Licensing and Citation Policy

Monadnock Research (MR) is an independent provider of objective syndicated and custom research, and other forms of editorial content (intellectual property, or "IP"), primarily for its clients' internal use.

MR content is not made available to the general public in any library or research institution. All published material is protected by U.S. copyrights (see The United States Code, Title 17, Copyright Law of the U.S.A.) and through international reciprocity agreements governing intellectual property.

No fair use of MR IP can be asserted, except for properly cited works that MR has authorized via license to clients; or by authorized release for republication to research partners; or releases to representatives of the press for promotional purposes. For more information on why fair use is not otherwise authorized by MR and cannot be lawfully asserted, please refer to the Report IP Violations section of this site.

Members of the press, clients, and other stakeholders often request to cite information contained in our publications. This document details our citation and content licensing policies.

Press and General Guidelines

Members of the press, and other contractually authorized parties, may use material created by MR provided that:

  • The text cites MR as the source

  • The Monadnock Research copyright statement and month/year of publication is affixed to all graphics, diagrams, graphs, and/or tables as "© Monadnock Research, Month Year"

  • When quoting an analyst, consultant, or executive, use the full name and title of the analyst, and source Monadnock Research as the firm

  • No published research provided to members of the Press by Monadnock Research for background should be reproduced in its entirety, or circulated internally or externally, except as required for in-scope one-off editorial purposes. If you require further clarification please contact us prior to circulation or publication.

  • When using the Monadnock Research company name within a press release, article, report, or feature, please ensure that it cites: "independent analyst, Monadnock Research"

  • Citations must be accurate and quoted verbatim within the context of their original intended use, without adaptation, manipulation, paraphrasing, or summarization if possible.

  • The amount of published text should not exceed a standard paragraph when quoted verbatim.

  • Quotes or extracts must not be used to criticize any individual or entity's capabilities, products, or services.

MR Enterprise Clients and PR Agencies Representing MR Clients

Enterprise clients are organizations that pay an annual fee to license the entire MR content portfolio. Limited citation rights are included with that license. Client-specific agreement terms and conditions may override guidance provided here, and may expand or limit citation privileges.

Clients, and PR Agencies working on behalf of enterprise clients, may use limited and insubstantial written extracts from published research they have licensed for internal and external use, provided that: such use is in the ordinary course of business; does not form part of a regular or routine pattern of use; and is only used by, or on behalf of, the MR client organization that has licensed the content, and only during the license period.

Clients, including PR Agencies working on behalf of enterprise clients, may reproduce a diagram, graph, or table for use in marketing collateral per the General Citation Guidelines.

All Clients and PR Agencies should obtain approval from Monadnock Research for the following requests:

  • Where reproduction and/or distribution of a specific piece of content is required.

  • Where a verbal quotation or written material is intended for use in any form of marketing collateral or publicly available information.

  • Where the amount of text from any Monadnock Research publication exceeds a standard paragraph when quoted verbatim.

  • When use of the Monadnock Research company name within the headline or sub-head of a press release, article, or feature is contemplated.
A copy of the document to be released or quoted, or a relevant section, must be provided for us to provide authorization for a specific use.

Non-Clients

Monadnock Research content may be cited under certain circumstances, usually for a fee, provided that the citation guidelines are adhered-to, and prior written approval from Monadnock Research has been received for the specific intended use.

Monadnock Research Copyrights

Monadnock Research publications are proprietary and subject to copyright and proprietary material protections under US and international law, treaties, and reciprocity agreements. Commercial use of Monadnock Research publications is strictly prohibited.

Approval Process

Please contact us with requests for approval. Requests are typically addressed within two business days of receipt. If your request must be expedited, contact us via phone at the number noted on the Contact page.
