Segal Advisors Acquires Investment Advisory Firm, Rogerscasey Monadnock Research - 3 February 2012 Segal Advisors has acquired Rogerscasey, a global investment solutions firm that serves institutional asset owners and others. Segal Advisors is an SEC-registered investment consulting subsidiary of the Segal Group. The combined entity, Segal Rogerscasey, has more than 325 clients with worldwide advisory assets of around $400 billion. The firm is privately held with headquarters in New York and offices in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Darien, Houston, Los Angeles, Toronto and Ireland. KPMG Acquires Thomson Reuters' Tax Managed Services Consultancy Monadnock Research - 2 February 2012 KPMG has acquired the indirect tax compliance services business of Thomson Reuters Inc. (TRI). The business, TRI's ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Managed Services business, will become part of KPMG's Indirect Tax Compliance Services. That KPMG unit is part of the US firm's existing State and Local Tax (SALT) practice and its Global Indirect Tax Service offering provided by KPMG member firms throughout the world. KPMG says it will maintain an ongoing relationship with Thomson Reuters through the continued use of Thomson Reuters' underlying technology to power the US-based services. (620 words) . . . More
Deloitte Onch Launches in Mongolia Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL) has established a new member firm in Mongolia after reaching an agreement with Mongolian professional services firm Onch Audit. The new firm, Deloitte Onch LLC, will offer a full range of professional services in addition to audit, including consulting, financial advisory and tax to clients in Mongolia. Mongolia is one of the fastest-growing markets in the world, with significant untapped natural resources in gold, copper, coal, molybdenum, fluorspar, uranium, tin and tungsten. CIBER to Exit US Federal Services Marketplace Monadnock Research - 24 January 2012 IT consulting, services and managed services firm CIBER, Inc. (NYSE: CBR) has agreed to sell its Federal Division and associated assets to Veritas Capital portfolio company, CRGT Inc. CIBER will receive $40 million in cash, subject to certain adjustments. CRGT is a leading provider of emerging technology solutions for US Federal clients. Veritas Capital acquired CRGT in 2008, when it was spun out of CherryRoad. CIBER says it is selling the operation to refine its strategic focus, and mix of industries and service areas. BearingPoint Makes Investment in Analytics Software and Services Firm, Effiscience Monadnock Research - 23 January 2012 European management and IT consultancy, BearingPoint, has made a controlling investment in business analytics software and services firm, Effiscience. BearingPoint acquired 51% of Effiscience, the parent of HyperCube. The firm says the transaction will help it address business performance challenges facing clients as they figure out how to more effectively process the ever-expanding stores of data generated by business processes. The HyperCube non-statistical approach to data analysis has incorporated more than fifteen years of advanced mathematical research into its development. Clients span a number of industries, with concentrations in pharmaceuticals, biotech, financial services and communications. BearingPoint currently employs around 3,200 staff in 15 countries. Infosys to Buy Strategic Sourcing and Category Management Outsourcer, Portland Group Monadnock Research - 13 January 2012 Infosys BPO Limited, the business process outsourcing unit of Infosys Limited, has signing a definitive agreement to acquire Australia-based Portland Group Pty Ltd, a leading provider of strategic sourcing and category management services. The deal was originally expected to be completed in early January, subject to closing conditions. But it has been delayed. Portland Group was founded in 1999, is headquartered in Sydney and has offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. The company reported revenues of around $31.3 million (AUD) for its fiscal 2011, ended 30 June. Portland has 113 professionals. The transaction value was around $37 million (AUD). (300 words) . . . Deloitte Acquires Mobile Agency, Ubermind Monadnock Research - 6 January 2012 Deloitte has closed a transaction acquiring Seattle-based mobile strategy, engineering, design and creative talent consultancy Ubermind. Deloitte says Ubermind works with companies to transform the way they use and present their brand through mobile devices, employing disruptive technologies to create mobile applications designed to both strengthen brand and transform the business. The transaction also brings to Deloitte a portfolio of proprietary frameworks and methodologies that are customized to the mobile development lifecycle. ICF International Completes Acquisition of Ironworks Consulting Monadnock Research - 4 January 2012 ICF International has closed on its acquisition of Ironworks Consulting, an interactive web development firm that provides customer engagement services across web, mobile and social media platforms to large clients in healthcare, energy, financial services, U.S. federal agencies and nonprofit organizations. The firm was founded in 2001, and offers integrated customer engagement applications, including interactive, portal and content management systems, and business and IT alignment services. Arthur D. Little Completes Global Management Buyout; Again Owned By Partners Monadnock Research - 2 January 2012 Arthur D. Little successfully completed its Management Buy-Out (MBO) with Altran Technologies on 30 December 2011. ADL, now in its 125th year in various forms, was founded in 1886 and was the world's first management consulting firm. The transaction returns ADL to a global private partnership, with all equity held by its Partners. The MBO deal includes all worldwide offices and retention of the Arthur D. Little brand. The firm says the financial commitment required from Partners was oversubscribed and Altran will provide vendor financing to support the firm's development in the years ahead. ADL now has around 1,000 staff serving clients in 20 countries. The firm provides services in the areas of strategy, technology and innovation. Expert Network Consultant Sentenced to 40 Months for Insider Trading Scheme Monadnock Research - 21 December 2011 James Fleishman, a sales manager at expert network consultancy Primary Global Research (PGR), was sentenced in Manhattan Federal Court to 30 months in prison for his role in an insider trading scheme. Fleishman was found guilty of helping pass inside information about publicly traded companies to executives at several hedge funds so they could trade ahead of its public release. He had been convicted on 20 September 2011 after a three-week trial. Fleishman, 42, of Santa Clara, California, was also sentenced to two years of supervised release in addition to his prison term. Accenture Acquires Controlling Interest in Al Faisaliah Business & Technology Company Monadnock Research - 25 October 2011 MR - Accenture and Al Faisaliah Group have concluded a joint venture that strengthens the combined firms' IT capabilities in the Middle East. Accenture has acquired a majority stake in Al Faisaliah Business & Technology Company (FBTC), a subsidiary of the Saudi Arabia-based Al Faisaliah Group. Oracle to Pay $199.5 Million to Settle Claims Involving Software and Support Services Procurement Violations Monadnock Research - 11 October 2011 MR - Oracle has agreed to pay $199.5 million plus interest for failing to meet its General Services Administration (GSA) contractual obligations. The Oracle settlement is the largest False Claims Act resolution ever obtained by the GSA. The agreement relates to a contract entered into with Oracle in 1998 to license software and technical support services to government entities through the GSA's MAS program. Former Oracle employee, Paul Frascella, will receive $40 million as his share of the recovery in the case. The settlement resolves his lawsuit filed on behalf of the US government under the whistle-blower provisions of the False Claims Act. In the US, private citizens can bring lawsuits on behalf of the US and will receive up to 25 percent of any recovery. (600 words) . . . More

Baker Acquires RBF Consulting for $50 Million Monadnock Research - 3 October 2011 MR - Engineering services consultancy, RBF Consulting, has been acquired by Michael Baker Corporation for $50 million. RBF is a 540-person engineering, planning, surveying and environmental services firm based in Irvine, California. The firms say the acquisition significantly expands Baker's presence in the Western U.S. transportation, civil and environmental infrastructure markets and, through its water resources experience and expertise, provides a platform for Baker to build a national water and wastewater practice. RBF Consulting was established in 1944, and has 17 US offices in California, Nevada and Arizona. RBF had 2010 revenues of around $103 million. SAIC Settles US FCA Suit for $22 Million Involving Procurement Improprieties at Stennis Space Center Monadnock Research - 30 Sept 2011 MR - Science Applications International (SAIC) and others have settled a False Claims Act (FCA) suit for $22 million. The case involved procurement improprieties at the National Center for Critical Information Processing and Storage at Mississippi's Stennis Space Center. SAIC, subcontractor Applied Enterprise Solutions LLC (AES), AES CEO Dale Galloway, and former US government employees Stephen Adamec and Robert Knesel will pay the US $22.676 million to resolve allegations of false claims in a whistleblower suit. SAIC will pay $20.4 million in the settlement. AES and Dale Galloway will pay $2.166 million; and Adamec and Knesel will pay $110,000. The Justice Department's FCA settlements since January 2009 have been over $7.8 billion. (470 words) . . . More
