Accenture: Two-thirds of CIOs and IT professionals participating in a recent survey believe that mobility will impact their businesses as much or more than the Internet did in the 1990s. Only 20-percent of outsourcing engagements are delivering sufficient business value to be classified as "high performance" BPO. Fifty-seven percent of women and 59% of men are dissatisfied with their jobs. But despite this, 69% plan to stay with their employers, with 64% citing flexible work arrangements as the reason for staying. KPMG: Organizations moving to shared services or outsourcing fall short of business goals and constrict business plans unless they first establish a comprehensive service delivery governance structure. Government and tax authorities are examining the tax implications of "virtual currency" conversion by social media gamers in 2012's $14 billion virtual trading market. Getronics: The role of the CIO in its current capacity will not exist in five years. Mercer: The ratio of senior executives and managers that are female is 29% in countries across Europe, compared to 71% for men. Just 9 percent of investment strategies attained a top environmental, social and governance (ESG) rating. In a related transaction, Callan Associates will acquire EA's public services investment advisory business. State of Alaska Settles with Mercer for $500 Million

MR - The Alaska Retirement Management Board (ARMB) has settled its December 2007 suit with Mercer. The suit was brought on behalf of two Alaska benefit plans and relating to work performed by Mercer from 1992 through 2004. Mercer continues to deny its liability in the settlement. This resolves all claims against Mercer by the ARMB and the State of Alaska in the matter. Under the terms of the settlement, Mercer will pay $500 million, with $100 million of that paid by its insurance carriers. Mercer says it would have been difficult to get a fair trial in Alaska given the fact that nearly 11.5 percent of Alaskans were plan participants. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed new rules to curb improprieties and conflicts of interest for individuals and firms providing advisory services to public sector organizations. The proposed rules would apply to advisors providing services in the areas of fund management, risk management, asset allocation, financial planning, cash management, investment advisory, and assessment and evaluation services for vetting firms providing related services.
